3/3/17 — Every Dress Has a Story. Donation Drive in Support of Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore
This year, Goodwill Northern Michigan will partner with Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore (GSMISTS) to collect dresses. Every Dress Has a Story donation drive takes place March 3-19, throughout several counties in Michigan, including those served by Goodwill Northern Michigan.
Girl Scout Troops are collecting new or gently used formal and informal dresses from their own closets or their personal networks for the donation drive. These donations will create new memories for someone else, and the revenue helps Goodwill Northern Michigan in its mission to help families experiencing homelessness, provide access to nutritious foods for neighbors in need, and empower disadvantaged workers seeking an opportunity. Girl Scouts who participate in Every Dress Has a Story, will receive a special badge to honor their commitment to the campaign.
“We’re pleased to participate in and champion this effort to collect dresses that will help our regional and local Girl Scout troops with leadership skills as well as an understanding of philanthropy and the importance of giving back,” said Dan Buron, Executive Director for Goodwill Northern Michigan.
According to the Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore, this annual project gives Girl Scouts the opportunity to develop confidence through asking for donations. It also inspires girls to give back to their communities in a way that is meaningful to them.
