The dedication and open house of the four duplex housing project that will house up to 24 veterans at any given time was held at Patriot Drive (Murner Rd and M-32). Approximately, one hundred and fifty community members, veterans and leaders attended the dedication.
Mr. Ralph Soffredine, Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan Chairperson led the dedication, with guest speakers, Mr. Jason Allen, Senior Deputy Director of Veterans Affairs for the State of Michigan and Ms. Denise Deitzen, Director of Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center joining the celebration.
Officials from Senator Levin and Senator Stabenow offices presented the American Flag to the project with the Camp Grayling Color Guard officially raising the flag. The Leathernecks MC EGA Chapter generously provided the flag pole area monument and raised additional service flags.
The Veterans Administration has already accumulated a waiting list of veterans who are eager to move into Goodwill’s Transitional Living Community, which is expected to be open and occupied the end of October.
