Workers on Wheels Car Giveaway

Nominations open May 8 – May 25 at noon.

The nomination window is now CLOSED. Thank you!

Workers on Wheels (WoW) — a Goodwill Northern Michigan program that aims to increase the independence and mobility of hard-working, low income families through safe, reliable transportation — is seeking the Wexford community’s help in selecting a family in need of GOOD wheels.

To further extend the Goodwill mission, WoW has purchased a used vehicle to donate back to a Wexford County family in need.  We know there are a lot of people in need of transportation assistance, so we are calling on the community of Wexford to help us identify a person/family in their own backyard.  Nominate a person/family in need by clicking here.  Nominations will be accepted through noon on May 25th 2018, and each one will be evaluated by the Nomination Committee, consisting of community leaders.

“With the coordination of this special vehicle giveaway to a hardworking family living in Wexford County, we hope to raise awareness of the WoW Program and to make the public aware that our program is in immediate need of vehicle donations  to help additional  families in our community,” – Sue Vado, Program Manager of Workers on Wheels.

Please visit this page for updates and to nominate a local, hardworking person/family in need of GOOD wheels.  The car will be awarded on June 14th at our Cadillac Goodwill Store’s Grand “Reopening.”  The Cadillac Chamber of Commerce will be doing a ribbon cutting ceremony to reopen the store.

ABOUT WORKERS ON WHEELS (WOW)

Workers on Wheels (WoW) is a program of Goodwill Northern Michigan that seeks to increase the independence and mobility of hard-working, low-income families.  We do this through a partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services application process by pairing a family in need with a donated vehicle at little cost to the family.

A dependable vehicle can save a family from being homeless!  It allows the family to be able to work and support their families, keep their homes, take their children to critical doctor appointments, and also allows them a chance for greater opportunities for job advancement. Building on the generosity of vehicle donors, we match GOOD vehicles with qualified families to empower families towards independence and to give them HOPE!
