Street Outreach Goals for the Homeless Population
The goal of Street Outreach is to proactively deal with issues of homelessness and poverty. They do this by:
- Providing and making known existing community programs and services to the unsheltered.
- Working with the city's police, paramedics and firefighters in response to reported problems with the homeless.
- Protecting the rights of the homeless.
- Improving networking with all human service agencies and faith based organizations.
- Encouraging and enticing the homeless to use available services.
- Proactively dealing with issues of poverty as a community.
- Dealing with the homeless on an individual basis not as a group.
- Treating the unsheltered and homeless population ethically and compassionately.
