Goodwill Inn Capital Campaign

We have been blessed with the support of our community from youth to adults, individuals to businesses, churches to governmental support.

On December 19, 2006 we opened the doors to our new Goodwill Inn.

Thank you everyone for all of your support in bringing our neighbors who are homeless a home, hope and support through your generousity.

Since 1986 the Goodwill Inn Homeless Shelter has provided a safe haven for those in crisis. Almost 450 individuals a year receive shelter at the Goodwill Inn, along with food, counseling and employment services. Another 2,000 people in need receive food, personal care products, clothing, medical and financial assistance.

The current 45 year old formal small motel is no longer adequate to satisfy the growing needs of the area's homeless individuals and families.

At time up to 8 people share rooms, families must be split up due to space constraints and 50 people share a community living space the size of a living room. Crisis counseling meetings often must take place in the small laundry room.

The Traverse City area desperately needs a better facility to shelter the victims of homelessness and help the turn their lives around.
