11/4/18 — 2018 Empty Bowls™ Event
Join us on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Hagerty Center for Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan’s annual Empty Bowls event. Our goal is to raise $30,000! Every dollar raised equals five pounds of food to the 48 Food pantries we deliver to, free of charge.
For over a decade Traverse City’s Empty Bowls has rallied artists, restaurateurs, and donors to fight hunger in Northwest Michigan. Thank you to the 30 local food vendors and over 70 volunteers who donated and ladled soup for the cause!
Last year, proceeds from this event helped Food Rescue collect and distribute more than 1.3 million pounds of food to more than 48 regional pantries feeding hungry neighbors in need.
Local artists, educators, and community members create an estimated 800 handcrafted bowls — from ceramic, metal and glass to paper mache, wood and fiber —to symbolize the many hungry people in our community whose bowls are empty. The event features a meal of soup and bread – all donated by talented and generous area chefs and restaurants – with guests taking home a one of a kind handcrafted bowls.
