12/13/16 — Goodwill Northern Michigan Selected at Hagerty 2017 Annual Non-Profit Partner
Traverse City, Michigan – Hagerty announced the selection of Goodwill of Northern Michigan as their 2017 Annual Nonprofit Partner. This will be the fourth year of the company’s Annual Nonprofit Partner program.
Goodwill of Northern Michigan will receive a financial investment of $25,000. In addition, Hagerty will provide employee service and pro bono consulting to boost the organization’s internal capacity.
“Goodwill is a pillar in our community,” said McKeel Hagerty, CEO. “We share a common vision of championing a strong Grand Traverse economy with plentiful opportunities for people to work and support their family. We look forward to working with Goodwill to unlock the potential of our community members by arming them with skills and resources that set them up for success.”
Goodwill of Northern Michigan participated in a competitive application process for the partnership opportunity and made its leadership available for a site visit in November.
“We are thrilled and grateful to have been chosen as Hagerty’s Nonprofit Partner for 2017,” said Dan Buron, Executive Director of Goodwill Northern Michigan. “We’re excited for this opportunity to team up with Hagerty to strengthen our community by increasing the independence and mobility of hard-working, low income families.”
The selection of Hagerty’s Annual Nonprofit Partner is the culmination of a year of giving, which includes hands-on and pro bono volunteerism from employees throughout the company. Year-end giving kicked off the week of Thanksgiving and included the donation of more than 800 books for second grade students in the Traverse City Area Public Schools for #GivingTuesday, in addition to adopting 100 elementary school students for Christmas. Additionally, Hagerty held donation drives at its headquarters in Traverse City and its offices in Colorado, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Locally, Hagerty provided the following donations:
Food and small gifts for the Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging’s Baskets of Bounty
Pet supplies for Cherryland Humane Society and AC Paw
Games and activities for teens participating at Pete’s Place
Blessings bags benefitting Central United Methodist Church
Paper products for Michael’s Place
School supplies for Traverse Heights Elementary School
Cleaning supplies for welcome home kits benefitting United Way
Hygiene items for the Women’s Resource Center
Toys for Tots Toy Drive

Proposals for Hagerty’s 2018 Annual Nonprofit Partner will be accepted during the third quarter of 2016.
