Nominate a Local Hardworking Family in Need of GOOD Wheels
Goodwill Seeks Nominations for Alpena County Vehicle Giveaway
November 25, 2015 (Traverse City, Mich.;) Workers on Wheels (WoW), a Goodwill Northern Michigan program that aims to increase the independence and mobility of hard-working, low income families through safe, reliable transportation is seeking the Alpena community’s help in selecting a family in need of GOOD wheels.
To further extend the Goodwill mission, WoW has purchased a used vehicle to donate back to an Alpena-area family in need. We know there are a lot of folks in need of transportation assistance, so we are calling on the community of Alpena to help us identify a family in their own backyard. Nominations will open online at www.goodwillnmi.org/wowgiveaway November 25 and are due by December 3.
“With the coordination of this special vehicle giveaway to a hardworking family living in Alpena County, we hope to raise awareness of the WoW program and inspire vehicle donations in the Alpena area to help additional individuals and families in need,” said LuAnn Heinert, Director of Workers on Wheels.
WoW has assisted hundreds of local families with vehicles since 1999. Donated cars are inspected, repaired, and awarded to a low-income, working family in need. We keep it local! All vehicles are awarded in the same area from which they were donated.
Over the last year, Goodwill Northern Michigan, a locally operated non-profit organization, has expanded its donations-based retail presence and mission services to better accommodate its vast territory. The local Goodwill has a service area of 19 northern Michigan counties, from Wexford to Presque Isle, with Traverse City acting as its hub.
The Alpena Goodwill Retail and Donation Center is pleased to have been an integral part of the community since 2013. Featuring GOOD finds and GOOD value, customers can expect a clean and welcoming shopping experience at their Alpena Goodwill. Every donation, every purchase provides an opportunity for a neighbor in need with $0.93 of every dollar earned reinvested back into northern Michigan communities through Goodwill’s Housing, Food, and Jobs programs, which includes Workers on Wheels (WoW). Goodwill customers and donors power our GOOD work throughout Northern Michigan.
