12/22/14 — Miller Poultry Donates 5,200 Pounds of Chicken to Food Rescue
The Power of Poultry
Every year, Miller Poultry makes a holiday donation to help folks in Michigan communities get access to protein – a huge challenge for the food insecure. Through their partnership with Oleson’s, Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan was identified as the recipient this year. Food Rescue saves soon-to-expire, perishable foods and distributes them to area pantries and shelters across the five-county region free-of-charge.
By keeping nutritious food out of the landfill and on the dinner plates of neighbors in need, Food Rescue is striving to eliminate hunger in our community.“This donation is a small token of our appreciation for the business you enable us and to help those in need in the communities that support us all year long,” said Len Neeb, Customer Service and Sales Team Leader at Miller Poultry.
The Miller Poultry donation breakdown:
- (100) 40 lb. cases of Frozen Bagged Drumsticks: This is 4,000 pounds which is enough for 12,000 meal portions.
- (100) 12 lb. cases of Frozen Miller Chicken Sausages: This is 1,200 pounds which is enough for 3,600 meal portions.
- A grand total of 5,200 pounds of Miller Chicken, which is 15,600 meal portions!
