9/6/13 — Mi Fresh Start mobile food service training enterprise receives grant
Goodwill Mi Fresh Start mobile food service training enterprise receives $10,000 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. The grant was awarded as part of a one-time grant for new or growing mobile cuisine businesses, with the emphasis on those that contribute to the local economy by working with other businesses and farms.
Mi Fresh Start mobile food truck will not only provide affordable food to low income populations, but also an opportunity to gain training and credentials to gain employment in the local food economy, an industry currently ranked 4th in terms of local job availability. The effort will increase opportunities for Goodwill’s current food training program participants beyond the current “back of the house” food prep program, and provide “front of the house” customer service specific training.
